About this place
Climbing the stairs and slipping out of street shoes into indoor slippers at the door feels rather unlike a standard ramen counter visit. Set on the 2nd floor of a music academy a short walk from Itabashihoncho Station, Chopin offers a calm dining room where hot bowls of noodles are enjoyed to piano melodies.
The signature bowls feature Japanese dashi broths with clearly drawn profiles. The shoyu noodles draw fragrant, savoury depth from katsuobushi and dried niboshi sardines, remaining light on the palate while carrying deep umami. Diners can also choose delicate shio noodles underpinned by gentle dashi, spicy miso noodles that blend rich sweetness with a sharp kick, or tsukemen matching thick noodles with concentrated seafood broth.
Seasonal limited offerings bring further variety to the counter. These include a rich oyster noodle dish capturing concentrated briny sweetness in a thick broth, as well as a Western-influenced rich shrimp tomato cream noodle bowl.
Midday orders often include one of the affordable side bowls. Alongside mini bowls topped with tender chashu pork or sweet-savoury seasoned minced meat, the mini chicken curry—accented by tomato tang and aromatic spices—has earned its own following. Enjoying a warm rice dish alongside spoonfuls of clear broth makes for a complete midday meal.
Operating solely for weekday lunch (11:30 to 14:00) and closed on weekends, Chopin accepts cash only. The compact setting of counter and table seating provides an unhurried retreat for diners looking to eat in quiet surroundings.
